Abrahams,
Mick Marmalade |
Formed in Solihull, West Midlands, this early 60's UK pop group comprised Martin Baggott (guitar), Philip Cash (guitar), Megan Davies bass), Don Gould (organ), Al Jackson (vocals) and Gerry Freeman (drums). Signed by Decca A&R representative Mike Smith, they found Top 10 UK chart success in 1964 with Tell Me When. The follow-up, Like Dreamers Do, was a song taken from the famous Lennon and McCartney Decca audition tape. It barely scraped the Top 20, nor did their next single Three Little Words. Always capable of finding a class demo the group turned to the Kinks' catalogue for Ray Davies' moody I Go To Sleep. Its failure effectively signalled the Applejacks' doom and they duly returned to the northern club scene. Album
