Abrahams,
Mick Marmalade |
When singer Ray Phillips formed the Nashville Teens in summer 1962 they were soon signed for a residency at the Star Club in Hamburg where they made their first recordings. One of these being with Jerry Lee Lewis on his hit album Live At The Star Club, and another being Carl Perkins' single Big Bad Blues. They notched up a massive hit in the early 60's with their version of John D Loudermilk's Tobacco Road and followed this with many more. Throughout the sixties they had many hit records and were produced by people like Mickie Most, Andrew Loog Oldham and Shel Tamy. They also toured with The Animals and backed such artistes as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Ben E. King, (during their 1965 USA tour) etc, as well as touring Internationally as a band in their own right. Their early influences included Loudermilk and Chuck Berry. As well as touring the UK and Europe frequently, the band are still admired by their peers. The current line up is: Ray Phillips - Lead Singer and Founder Member |
